Support the IU Food Institute
We are grateful to our supporters of the IU Food Institute. For years, you have ensured we are able to offer opportunities for students to learn and conduct research about food systems and foodways, addressing the pressing human and environmental challenges of providing both sustaining and sustainable food for a changing planet.
As we embark on a new era for the IU Food Institute, we are working to address the goals and needs of our students to ensure they graduate from IU Bloomington with a solid foundation in food systems classroom and experience. You are welcome to contribute to one of our targeted funds to ensure your donation is applied directly to that initiative. Alternatively, you can donate to our IU Food Institute Enrichment Fund to sustain our operations and services for students, staff, faculty and communities throughout Indiana.
Description of our target funds:
IU Food Institute Internship Fund
Donations to this fund will support undergraduate and graduate students conducting research and engaging in food systems internships. These robust out-of-classroom experiences ensure students gain a deeper understanding of food system issues, whether through primary data collection and analysis or through internships working with farmers, agencies, or grassroots food system advocates. Students will leave with a strong resume and letters of recommendation and be a part of an alumni network for IUB food system graduates.
IU Food Institute Emergency Food Fund
Donations to this fund will be applied to the services and food repurposing and procurement strategies to address food insecurity on our IUB campus. We are in the process of understanding the depth and breadth of food insecurity on our campus in numbers, but action is already being taken. The IU Food Institute will work in partnership with other units on campus to creatively address food needs for students and work toward a better understanding and long-term solutions from administrative levels. No funding or food will be directly provided to students through the Fund; food and other support will be distributed to IUB programs such as Crimson Cupboard. As a primary conduit of information for food on campus, the IU Food Institute is uniquely positioned to convene and foster collaboration among grassroots and administrative efforts to address this pressing issue.
IU Food Institute Enrichment Fund
Donations to this fund will support the ongoing advancement of the IU Food Institute mission and support for undergraduate and graduate students, staff and faculty on campus as well as our local and statewide community partners and collaborators. The mission of the IU Food Institute is to promote innovative research, education, and public outreach with multidisciplinary approaches to food and foodways. The institute supports collaborative efforts within the College and across the university, providing space and generating funding for innovative projects that will expand IU’s leadership role in the rapidly growing and evolving interdiscipline of food studies.
