2022-23 IU Food Institute Graduate Intern
Working with the Assistant and Faculty Directors of the IU Food Institute as well as other graduate and undergraduate interns on staff, student intern will perform regular and assigned administrative tasks, in addition to outreach activities, and professional development.
Web and outreach: Student will work with directors to create and update web content including web pages, blog interviews and posts, and newsletter content.
Graduate student network: Student will engage graduate students from all schools and colleges at IUB to gather formally and informally including casual cooking and dining experiences; managing the graduate student listserv; hosting research topic focused discussions; teaching and instructional skill development; constructive feedback sessions for peers; and interdisciplinary topic discussions and engagement.
Events: Student will assist with event hosting for online and in-person events to support research, outreach, network development, and collaborations among faculty, staff, students and community partners (required).
Professionalism: Student will learn and understand the basics of sustainable food systems, and learn professional communication and outreach skills necessary for outreach and representation of a research-oriented campus unit. 2022-23 IU Food Institute Undergraduate Intern
Working with the Assistant and Faculty Directors of the IU Food Institute as well as other graduate and undergraduate interns on staff, student intern will perform regular and assigned administrative tasks, in addition to outreach activities, and professional development.
Qualified applicants will have an interest in sustainable food systems, and a willingness to learn and understand research translation in practice. Student interns will be expected to spend time learning food systems, understanding the role of the IU Food Institute both on and off-campus and work to develop the communication and leadership skills necessary for network and community-engaged work. Characteristics of professionalism, humility, patience, excellent communication, ability to listen, and willingness to work in groups are critical skills for this position. A commitment to equity and justice in the work and in food systems is necessary. An interest in learning community food system development, food production on the campus farm, and food systems research and systems thinking is important and necessary. Interested?
